Installing,removing,orreplacinghardware
Thistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstall,remove,orreplacehardwareforyourserver.Youcan
expandthecapabilitiesofyourserverbyaddingnewhardwaredevices,suchasmemorymodules,PCIe
cards,orotherserveroptions,andmaintainyourserverbyreplacingthefailinghardwaredevices.
Ifyouarehandlingaserveroption,refertotheappropriateinstallationandorremovalinstructionsinthis
topicalongwiththeinstructionsthatcomewiththeoption.

•Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationsinthistopic.
TheEMIintegrityandcoolingoftheserverareprotectedbyhavingalldrivebaysandPCIcardslotscovered
oroccupied.WhenyouinstallaninternaldriveoraPCIcard,savetheEMIshieldordummytrayfromthe
drivebayorsavethePCIcardslotbracketintheeventthatyoulaterremovethedevice.
Attention:AnunoccupieddrivebayorPCIecardslotwithoutacover,shield,dummytray,filler,orany
otherprotectionmightimpacttheEMIintegrityandcoolingoftheserver,whichmightresultinoverheating
orcomponentdamage.
