Thefollowingprocedureisbasedonthescenariothatyouwanttoinstallafull-height,half-lengthPCIecard

ontherisercard.Theprocedureissimilarifyouwanttoinstallafull-height,full-lengthPCIecardonthe

risercard.

ToinstallaPCIecardontherisercardassembly,dothefollowing:

1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall

powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.

2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage69.

3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage69.

4.Removetherisercardassemblyandlayitupsidedownonaﬂat,clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.

5.LocateanappropriatePCIeslot.Pressthetabtopivotthecardlatchtotheopenposition.Then,remove

thePCIeslotbracketfromtherisercardassembly.Storethebracketincasethatyoulaterremovethe

PCIecardandneedthebrackettocovertheplace.
