Usingsystemprograms

Systemprogramsarethebasiclayerofsoftwarebuiltintoyourserver.SystemprogramsincludethePOST,

theUEFIcode,andtheSetupUtilityprogram.ThePOSTisasetoftestsandproceduresthatareperformed

eachtimeyouturnonyourserver.TheUEFIisalayerofsoftwarethattranslatesinstructionsfromother

layersofsoftwareintoelectricalsignalsthattheserverhardwarecanexecute.YoucanusetheSetupUtility

programtoviewandchangethecongurationandsetupofyourserver.

Yourserversystemboardhasamodulecalledelectricallyerasableprogrammableread-onlymemory

(EEPROM,alsoreferredtoasashmemory).YoucaneasilyupdatethePOST,theUEFI,andtheSetup

Utilityprogrambystartingyourserverwithaashupdatediscorrunningaspecialupdateprogramfrom

youroperatingsystem.
