YoucaninstallandusetheMegaRAIDStorageManagerprogramtomanagetheRAIDarrayandRAID
controllerinanoperatingsystemenvironment.
BeforeconfiguringRAIDforyourserver,observethefollowingprecautions:
•Useharddiskdrivesthatareofthesametype(SATAorSAS)andhavethesamecapacitywithina
singleRAIDarray.
•ThetotaldrivecapacityoftheprimaryRAIDarraymightbelimitedto2TB.
RAIDarraystatus
Whenyouturnontheserver,theRAIDcontrollerROMversion,theRAIDarraystatus,andthelistofthe
availableharddiskdriveswillbedisplayedduringthePOST.
TheRAIDarraystatuscanbeoneofthefollowing:
•Online
Thisisthenormalstatus,whichindicatesthattheRAIDarrayisworkingcorrectly.
•Degrade
ThisstatusindicatesthatmorethanoneharddiskdriveintheRAIDarraycannotbesynchronizedorhave
failed.Youneedtoreplacethefailingharddiskdrivesandrebuildthedata.See“Installingorreplacinga
hot-swapharddiskdrive”onpage166and“Rebuildingaphysicaldrive”onpage80.
•Offline
ThisstatusindicatesthattheRAIDarrayhasfailedandcannotberebuilt.YouneedtocreateaRAID
array.See“Creating,adding,ordeletingaRAIDarray”onpage79.
StartingtheLSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtilityprogram
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtostarttheLSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtilityprogram.
TostarttheLSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:
1.Turnontheserver.
2.DuringthePOST,whenyouseethemessage“PressCtrl-MorEntertorunLSISoftwareRAIDSetup
Utility,”immediatelypressCtrl+MtostarttheLSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtilityprogram.
LSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtilityprograminterface
ThistopicprovidesinformationaboutthemenusanditemsintheLSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtility
program.Dependingontheversionoftheprogram,somemenuoriteminformationmightdifferslightlyfrom
theinformationinthistopic.
WhenworkingwiththeLSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtilityprogram,youmustusethekeyboard.
Thekeysusedtoperformvarioustasksaredisplayedonthebottomofeachscreen.Useupanddown
arrowkeystonavigatebetweenitems.Formostitems,thecorrespondinghelpmessageisdisplayed
onthebottomofthescreenwhentheitemisselected.Iftheitemhassubmenus,youcandisplaythe
submenusbypressingEnter.
